The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on January 1, 2018, at 5:36 p.m. at the Fire Station with Trustees Einspahr, Orcutt and Valentine present. Clerk Waldo, Utility Supervisor Whetstine were also present. Posted notices in three public places within the village. Notice of meeting and agenda was given to Trustees in advance. As required by law Acting Chairman Einspahr, pointed out the copy of the Opens Meeting Act posted on the wall for public viewing and called the meeting to order. Proceedings shown were taken while convened meeting was open to the public.
Motion by Orcutt, seconded by Valentine, to approve the minutes of the last meeting as published Voting Aye: Einspahr, Orcutt and Valentine. There were no votes against the motion. Absent: Eddy and Hammond. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s report was read and approved. Discussion was held regarding monthly rental fee for 12 oxygen bottles for the ambulance. Will be on agenda for February meeting.
Discussion was held regarding recycling grant. Grant application is in progress. Have received two bids and need one more. Discussed one trailer for all recyclables or one for paper/plastic/tin/aluminum and one for cardboard. Will get bids for separate trailers.
Decision on playground/shelter house grant should be made in 7-10 days. Total donations to date for playground/shelter house fundraiser is $4,544.00. Will have sign made to show progress of fundraiser and will be placed on the island where Christmas decorations currently are.
Ordinance 301 was introduced by Trustee Valentine. Ordinance 301 reads: AN ORDINANCE TO REVISE ALL THE ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF REPUBLICAN CITY, NEBRASKA BY ADOPTING THE 2017 EDITION OF THE NEBRASKA BASIC CODE OF ORDINANCES, TO REPEAL PRIOR ORDINANCES; TO REQUIRE FILINGS; AND TO PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Motion by Valentine, seconded by Orcutt to suspend the rule requiring three separate readings of the ordinance. Voting Aye: Einspahr, Orcutt and Valentine. There were no votes against the motion. Absent: Eddy and Hammond. Motion carried. Motion by Valentine, seconded by Orcutt to adopt Ordinance 301. Voting Aye: Einspahr, Orcutt and Valentine. There were no votes against the motion. Absent: Eddy and Hammond. Motion carried.
Motion by Orcutt, seconded by Valentine to adjourn at 5:48 p.m.
The next regular scheduled village board meeting will be held Monday, February 5, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at the Fire Hall. Meeting is open to the public and the public is encouraged to attend.
